I am aiming at becoming an investment banker. I’m currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Business Banking & Finance, and im studying part time only for this year.
As an investment banker, you need to have negotiating skills, dealing with other banks and prospective clients. I therefore decided to look fo a part time sales job.
Today, I was offered a job, full time, where they train me (Course: Certificate IV in Business Sales) to become a Business to Business Salesman for mobile phone businesses. My initial salary for the first year is $35,000+superannuation+commission. They claim that by my second year, I will be equipped to make $120,000. I’m 20 years old and I have a Diploma of Share Trading and an Advanced Course Certificate in Speed Reading People (Body Language). The downside is they expect me to work 5 days a week from 9am-5pm. I know it will be very difficult to do both Uni and a full time job, but definitely not impossible. But is it worth it to put on my resume in the future (a few years time)? Will it count in becoming an investment banker, or a sales representative at a financial institution?
Please, explain to me what your thoughts are.
