By retaining the services of a sales recruitment agency you will save yourself the time in that you do not need to interview a large number of applicants (many of whom will not be at all suitable for a sales role), nor do you need to tie up staff resources in organizing advertisements in the media, be it online or in the newspapers careers section. The sales recruitment agency will arrange the advertising of the position and screen future applicants on your behalf.

The agency will then provide those whom they regard as the best job applicants for the employer to meet. Needless to say there is a fee involved for this service and as a general rule it will represent a percentage of the annual salary offered or negotiated for the new recruit. A sales recruitment agency will often seek to establish an on-going relationship with an employer and to do this will usually provide additional services by way of the following:

What is a good sales training program?

Question by Steven: What is a good sales training program?
I am working as an account rep for a wholesale distributor calling on retail customers. I want to establish good, long-term relationships. What is a good sales training program? I am interested in books, audio or video courses, stuff like you see on Nightingale-Conant website. I can’t spend a lot of money, maybe $ 200 to start.

I have read a number of books by Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, etc. Have also read a lot of Dale Carnegie.

I just got back for an interview with a local John Hancock agency for some supposed sales position. I was not too happy. Basically they want you to come on, jump through all these hoops, PAY for a license, and (this was a real kicker) pay hundreds per month just for “office space” at the office. LOL. Sounds like they use their “employees” to pay their own business expenses.

Needless to say, I can’t afford that nor am I interested in it. I already run a small business and I’m trying to get out of that. My background and education is in Computers and IT and that’s been double hit by the bad econ and outsourcing. I have a lot of sales experience through my company, but nothing specific to insurance, cars, etc. So, what would be a good sales job where I could actually start making money and NOT paying money? I don’t mind comm only. I just want a good opportunity – maybe with a team of people to get training. Thanks for any tips. (Also, what’s up with sneaky sales interviews for insurance? They don’t want to tell you anything in email or phone. I can’t spend all day driving around and dressing up for these silly interviews for jobs I don’t even know the first thing about!) :)

I need ur advice.I am well regarded among students as a knowledgeable guy.And help my friends when ever need arises. But i am a bit inward looking guy.I cannot befriend people immediately and it takes time.i do make good friends but it takes time. And i dont know if it is a problem with my looks or so people dont thing so highly of me in our first meetings but eventually they give me respect.
It is not in my nature to jump into something with out thinking and some people say that i dont exhibit much leadership qualities.
Due to my nature i am not so much popular with my teachers also They easily get me lost among other students .Because i study in a college where they dont give the necessary training to build up the personality.
Before joining the course i worked for an auto dealership where i was an ordinary sales man who was never short of ideas.

Can i become a good manager?

I just quit my job in a training organsition effectively doing phone sales with a view to training later.
No one else was doing my role. It was a big opportunity for me as it was a training organisation. I was working very hard and getting results for them updating their sales.
I wasnt on the IT system until a week later but ahead in everything else. Then the day i quit I was wanting to catch up on IT as I wasnt on the system when everyone else was, but we were locked out 40 minutes late so we all couldnt get in as it was locked. The temp didnt turn up and the receptionist was late. The day before the director said to me ‘What did you do all day?’ As if I was doing nothing. It immediately deflated me and put so much pressure on me I ended up not sleeping.
The next day he walked in and pretended to offer me more training…actually he wanted me to do a dead end task the temp had just quit. I said no as i had work to do. Actually every time i reached the end of the task both directors would dump something else on my desk, when i hadnt had lunch.
(Then i noticed lunch was segregated to male and female also.)
Anway, after all this, he came back in and started yelling I do what he says, when he says, without question, without saying anything else, i am the magaging director, i talk only to him and no one else and only ask him for help. The marketing guy scuried out of the room.
I got the feeling the director wanting me to ‘bend to his will.’ Given he was never in the office and i am with the sales team in a different role, i was really amazed he said i only talk to him. This means that I am meant to be isolated?
I would be able to make lots of short cuts in my career as they are growing rapidly but AM I RIGHT in having left? I don’t know if i can work with a male who expects to dominate the female. I I am suprised he was so angry with me and he seemed to want to break me. I am suprised at any guy telling a girl to not disagree wtih them in front of others or to do what they say when he says.
I faxed my resignation. I have never quit, i was working very hard and its a slap in the face.I ended up having to stop talking so he could rip **** through me..i would not have put up with it in any setting but i am also suprised he asked. I have a degree I am not dumb. But I am attractive and look younger then I am.
WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED? Given I can catch up massively in my career, do I go back?

Also, one of the trainers asked me to put his file back claiming he didnt understand the filling system (alphabetical order in the file room.) It was his file and he was closer to it. I asked and he said that he had no time…it let me think that he believed his job to be more important, even though i had a degree in HR and he was just a trainer.
I have not fully broken into my HR career so much so I am considering and unpaid internship in the US. So of course getting into the industry seems like a big loss, but I am not used to being spoken to this way, and my management skills came out. Did they see me as a dumb girl in a dumb job? It felt like he was disciplining a wife or a child
Was i just in a boys club? What the hell was this? i havent come accross this before. I am not sure what just happened or why it was so hard for him.
