How many times have you driven by a car dealership to find salespeople huddled or lined up by the showroom door like vultures waiting to pounce on the next customer?
In today’s market, spending has significantly decreased, and dealerships must be more proactive in creating a maximized sales environment and managing sales activity if they want to sell more cars and generate profit.
On top of this current problem affecting auto sales, in-store traffic is at an all time low, as many that need to purchase a vehicle do the majority of their research and kicking of the tires online to determine what they want and can afford, and then call the dealership, rather than browse the showroom like the good old days.

I’ve always imagined that it would be really neat to have a private sleeper car and get it pulled around the US (maybe even Canada) as part of a freight train. It could go places where Amtrak doesn’t, at times which might be more convenient for me (in accordance with freight schedules, of course). Where might I be able to find such a coach for sale or lease? And would the freight locomotives be able to supply electricity to it, or would I also need to arrange for a generator to be on board?

In today’s competitive job market, employers relay on well-written resumes to screen potential candidates. In many instances, employers look through job search web sites, such as HotJobs.com or Monster.com, to find professionals with skills, education and experience that fit their needs. These employment search web sites, along with many companies’ own online applications, require candidates to upload their resume in order to express interest in a specific opportunity. Without an opportunity to send a personal email, or a cover letter, you have to make sure that your resume expresses your personality in addition to listing your professional and educational experiences and achievements. To do so, you can include a professional profile or summary at the beginning of your resume that allows you to market yourself through a narrative. This section allows your potential employers to learn something unique about you and your career, as well as get a good feel of your communication skills.
To write an effective summary, you should first understand what information should not be communicated in your resume. While a summary provides an insight into what is unique and competitive about you, it is not a place for you to indicate any personal information that does not relate to your career. Information such as ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation, religious beliefs and affiliations, etc. should be left out of your resume. While descriptive of who you are, this information is not relevant to your potential employer in order to pre-screen your qualifications for their opportunity. Additionally, the summary should not contain your previous professional experience, unless you can clearly demonstrate how such background can be of value in your future career development. Beware of generic statements, such as “I am well organized and detail oriented.” Employers want to hear your unique voice and get a sense of your communication skills while reading the summary portion of your resume. Using generalizations about your abilities will make the employers believe that you are either a poor communicator or are using such statements to fill up space on your resume.

“Corporations have long insisted that globalization delivers prosperity. But a report commissioned by the Financial Services Forum, an association of CEOs of 20 major financial firms, admits that most benefits have gone to a select few. International operations increasingly account for most sales and business conducted by multinational firms, writes David Wessel for the Wall Street Journal. But workers in developed nations have increasing job insecurity. If benefits bypass ordinary workers, resentment could prompt US legislators to restrict international trade. A huge income gap is unnecessary for the US: The report recommends higher taxes for those gaining the most from globalization, protecting the tax base in communities facing factory closures, and a guarantee of health care and training opportunities for all workers.
The association warns that growing inequality threatens overall US prosperity and released the report to candidates for the 2008 US presidential election. But the warning may be too late, with politicians chasing after votes and surveys reporting that more than two-thirds of Americans anticipate that their children’s lives will be worse off than their own. – YaleGlobal”
What do you think?
Bigg, I disagree, because with protectionist policies labor has bigger negotiating clout for wages and benefits.
